Oklahoma Compounding Pharmacy
What is a Compounding Pharmacy
Compounding in a pharmacy is the creation of a drug— by a licensed pharmacy, both for humans and animals. The FDA describes it where “a person under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, combines, mixes, or alters ingredients of a drug to create a medication tailored to the needs of an individual patient.”
There are a few reasons we will compound a prescription at our drug store:
-
If a patient can not tolerate a commercially available Rx.
-
If a drug is discontinued or in a shortage.
-
There is not a commercially available drug to suit the needs of a patient.

When we compound medications we are able to:

-
Customize the exact strength and dosage.
-
Add flavoring to make it palpable for kids & animals. (Just a Spoonful of Sugar Makes the Medicine Go Down)
-
Reformulation to remove an ingredient to fit dietary needs such as gluten or lactose intolerance.
-
Reformulate the medication to help people stomach a medication if they experience an upset or struggle to swallow.
-

At our compounding pharmacies, we can adjust liquids, make lollipops, topical creams, suppositories, and more.
Our top 10 most popular compounded medications are:

-
Lollipops for kids
-
Promethazine Gel for Nausea & Vomiting
